Now that we know three very important soft skills, it’s time to take action! Having an identity that you are confident with is very important for one’s individuality. If you want to stand out, you need to know yourself, and be confident with your personal skills and abilities. If you think you are lazy, irresponsible, or not a team player, maybe its time to change your actions and start working on important skills that will help you exponentially in life. For starters, set an achievable, specific, and measurable goal for yourself. It’s time to take action! We are at the starting line, lets put a little pressure and set that goal. Let’s say your weakness is laziness, okay, now that that word doesn’t even exist, you are no longer lazy and your goal is to be motivated.
The CLEAR method (different from SMART goals) helps you consider your needs for achieving job goals, which differ from day-to-day personal goals. CLEAR stands for Collaborative, Limited, Emotional, Appreciable, Refinable.
Put your goal into your daily actions right away. Figure out what motivates you and do it. If you don’t know what motivates you then try different things. For me, working out gives me more energy and more focus, coffee always works, taking a break and enjoying the outdoors, it can be anything! Think of things you love, and do them! Just practice getting up, being active and saying yes! It will make your life a lot more positive, keep you healthier and make you more motivated to get off the couch because your spirits will be up!
Practice your new routine, and leave all the lazy stuff out. You can give yourself some free time to do whatever you like but motivated people get everything they need done. If they are feeling tired or lazy, they seek what drives their inner motivation. This works with any soft skill, say you think your teamwork is lacking; Set a goal to turn that around. Be a team player, and act on it. Be mindful of how you act in a team environment. Are you talking over others? Leading the team? Not pulling your weight? Take these into account so that you can make your team skills even better! Practice your weak points and embrace the strong.
Live this new life every day, and don’t go back! The new you is motivated, you speak it, act it, and live it. Motivation is a part of you now and laziness is your past.
